It’s also way more convenient than relying on finding charging stations when you need it.

Kinds of EV Charger Installation

EV chargers are currently classified under three different levels. Only two of them are suited for use in residences, however, due to their power requirements. We’ve explained each type of EV charger below, but only Level 1 and Level 2 electric vehicle charger installation is available for your home.

Level 1 Chargers

Level 1 chargers are the most basic of the EV chargers available. Your electric vehicle likely came with a Level 1 charger, and your home likely already has a 120-volt outlet that this type of charger requires. If you don’t have a normal 120-volt outlet where you would like to charge your vehicle, that’s no problem. We can install one for you wherever you need. The downside to Level 1 chargers is the length of time it takes to charge your vehicle. It can take up to 20 hours to reach a full charge, so you can’t rely on it if you need your vehicle charged fast.

Level 2 Chargers

Level 2 chargers need a 240-volt outlet, so it does require EV charger installation performed by a professional electrician. The upside is that it charges your car in as little as 4 hours. The time it takes to charge won’t exceed 10 hours, so you can easily charge it overnight. In addition to its added convenience, it is also better for battery life than the more rapid chargers you find at charging stations. Because of this, we suggest getting a Level 2 charger in your home if possible.

Level 3 Chargers

These are known as rapid chargers since you can fully charge your vehicle in less than an hour. They require more energy than a typical home or business is able to provide, so they are most often used commercially and found in specialized charging stations or gas stations.

Reasons To Get a Home EV Charger

You may think it’s not important to get a home electric vehicle charger installation, but there are definitely some benefits to doing so. Here are some reasons we’d recommend considering getting your own EV charger:

  • Less Stress: You’ll never need to worry about running out of battery or if you have enough juice to get you to your nearest charging station.
  • Improved Battery Health: By not relying on Level 3 chargers all the time to charge your vehicle to full capacity, you are increasing the longevity of your battery and how well it will hold charge.
  • Saves Money: While there is an upfront cost to EV charger installation, you will no longer need to pay to access the charging stations, which adds up. In the long run, you’ll save money.
  • Higher Home Value: Since more people are driving electric vehicles, they see having a home charger as an added value. This can increase your list price if you ever want to sell your home.
